The New Season Awaits
With the new season rapidly approaching, a few things are different from the time we all last met in the County Colours:
Team updates: The A Team had its trials, with Olly, Nigel and Rich's places at stake in the A team. A hard fought day really showed some of the quality we have in the squad, with a number of players showing they are knocking on the door of the As. It ended with Olly and Nigel retaining their places, with Tav taking the final A team place. Rich will be a huge loss to the As, we all know he's quality, but that's what the trials are about and huge quality has been replaced by huge quality and the competitive nature of the squads is only making us stronger.
We have a C team now - the details are being ironed out, but this means we will be having a new look B and C team. Having just seen the provisional list of players for the Bs I can say it's not just a question of whether they qualify for nationals, I'd say they should be considered major competitors at Selsey. The squad picture should be looking a lot bigger this season...
Cs will be a new team, they will need a couple of experienced heads in there and I think we will have that with the list of players. We'll all be looking to support the new team and make sure they know the squad is right behind them. It's a great sign of how far we have come.
First match is April 19th, home to Dorset... hopefully everyone will be able to make it and start the campaign with a good old-fashioned smashing...
